Chapter I

The Room

Named for John Singer Sargent, the Gilded Age portraitist, and dressed the way his canvases are lit.

Floor-to-ceiling windows pour light across soft green Venetian plaster. Dark wood, emerald banquettes and amber-hued glass warm it back down; globe lights nod to Lucian, and a green archway divides two dining rooms beneath floral canvas chandeliers from London's Pinch studio.

Chapter II

The Kitchen

Executive chef Jason Paolini cooks recognisable American classics with French brasserie technique.

Less hushed than Lucian, more every day: a raw bar, a proper club sandwich, and prime rib wheeled out for two at dinner and through an extended Sunday lunch.

Chapter III

The Bookshop

Bigger than Lucian's, and worth a visit on its own. Books, magazines and international publications such as Neptune Papers and Noble Rot, set around a 20-foot antique table that came from Katie Barringer's former shop, Cover Books.
